Morphy Auctions of Denver, PA * Doll Sale * 21 September, 2013



Lot 5 is a French doll with unmarked early pale bisque shoulder head, feathered eyebrows, cobalt blue enamelled eyes, black eyeliner, painted upper and lower lashes, closed mouth, cork pate, replaced human hair wig; French gusseted kid body (some wear) with lower bisque arms (smaller like the Bru fashions instead of larger like most early French dolls); very nicely redressed with pink leather boots. Size 15" T. Estimate: $1,000.00 - $1,500.00

Lot 30 is a china doll with faint pink complexion (some pitting on face and shoulders), black molded hair in “covered wagon” style with white center part and sausage curls all around, tapered black eyebrows, desirable and rare brown painted eyes, red eyelid line, black eyelash line, white space between lips; old cloth torso and upper legs, new china lower legs, new cloth and leather arms; appropriately redressed in cotton with red trim.Size 23" T. Estimate: $400.00 - $700.00

Lot 71 is an all wood vintage hard-carved Helen Bullard “Hitty” with label, original clothing including Hitty half-slip (small nose chip); 1945 edition of “Hitty” autographed by author Dorothy Lathrop; and a more recent “Hitty” edition. Size 10" T. Estimate: $200.00 - $400.00
Lot 413 is a collection of all German dolls with black hair, painted features, original cloth bodies with china limbs (one with replaced lower legs, two with broken feet, smallest with broken arm, largest with nose chip), several have original clothing.
