SOLD Handwerken Zonder Grenzen 2004 * £8 €12 $32 *Shipping Included (New Zealand or Australia $40)

This is a rather special number of Handwerken Zonder Grenzen, focussing in the main part on Elizabethan embroideries, at Sulgrave Manor and Glamis Castle.
There are historical articles - in Dutch (please note)
and practical projects with charts for you to enjoy.
Above you can see charts for slips and below for a worked alphabet.
There is an article on a spectacular pair of embroidered panels of the 1680s which I saw when I was in the Netherlands in the collection of Mariette Verheggen. They are not at all like panels of the time seen in the UK and I remember a quite heated debate with an English curator about them!
There is a sampler from the Haslemere Educational Museum, fully charted for you to stitch...
as well as an article on the museum and other samplers in its collection.
and patterns for even more early embroidery.
