Explore Folk Knitting with Lucinda Guy @ West Dean * 29 November - 1 December 2013
Learn some of the stunning and original decorative techniques used in Northern folk hand knits, using beautiful Nordic knitting wool. These techniques will include beautiful, authentic decorative cast on techniques used for traditional Nordic knitted mittens, socks and sweaters – such as the classic two colour, old Estonian Fish Tail cast on and an extravagantly decorative, fringed cast on. There will be plenty of opportunities to pick up tips for incorporating these techniques into your own folk mittens and socks. You will also learn all about the superbly insulating and decorative folk art of Thrums and Thrumming. Lucinda Guy is a knitwear designer-maker and author of eight knitting and crochet books. She combines her love of folk art and traditional knitting and crochet techniques to create clothes, accessories and toys for adults and children. Janet's course runs at the wonderful West Dean College (near Chichester, UK) for the weekend 29 November - 1 December 2013. The fee is £204 with 5% reduction for on-line bookings.
