SOLD The Renaissance Garden in England * £13 €20 $65 Shipping Included (New Zealand and Australia $70)

Not really a picture book but a learned study by Sir Roy Strong, formerly director of the V&A Museum in London and expert on gardening and history of gardening. This is a full size softback of 240 pages and is in very good condition.
Gardens and knots feature strongly on embroidered panels of the Stuart era - and it is well-known that Elizabethans also had a passion for their gardens, so this book was of great interest in that it provided many insights into the appearance of garden elements, such a spires and water spouts - as well as their symbolism.
If you are interested in early embroideries, then this book will provide you with a wider context for their appreciation.
