SOLD 2 Volumes * 18th & 19th Century Embroidery Techniques * £20 €35 $90 Shipping Included (New Zealand & Australia $100)

Gail Marsh has done sterling work documenting and publicizing the Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth Collection at Gawthorpe Hall. These two book are the fruit of her labours and are for sale together, in new condition. Each book is hardback with around 200 densely illustrated and annotated pages.
Starting with the 19th century first, Gail covers a number of techniques for sampler making, including darning and plain stitching samplers.
There is of course some canvas and Berlin work, together with quilting. I particularly like these making instructions for a huswif or needle roll.
The second book is for 18th century techniques.
There are some lovely examples of fine embroidery for court dress.
As well as stomachers...
and pockets.
