My name is Icco, and I am participating far from Japan. I was intrigued by the exquisite beauty of Quaker samplers, and started stitching. I am using 40ct Wichelt Linen, and floss which is an original from a Japanese embroidery shop.At present, my stitching is monochrome, but after looking at the interpretations of stitchers from other countries I am considering adding bits of other colors.
Every week I look forward to the release of a new chart.Thank you so much for such a wonderful SAL project.
Is this a thread that is available for sale elsewhere? Do they export it to other countries? It is such a beautiful shade of brown and your stitching is wonderful.

ReplyDeleteIt is so beautiful the way it is! I haven't actually begun stitching yet, but I was planning on stitching mine all in black on this mossy grey linen. I've really been taken with monochromatic schemes lately. Anyway, your brown is stunning. Don't change a thing!

Now, a message from myself-(I did some research on my own)
The name of the thread is MATALGON No.839.
It is a matte (not shiny) cotton thread, close to Danish flower thread, only thinner.
The closest color in DMC is 839; if you want to go for the same texture, the closest is Flemme Flower Thread 216 (Matalgon 839 is a bit lighter).
Some overseas net shops carry Danish flower threads, such as Scandinavian Stitches.
