This first book is a first edition (1939) of The English Child in the Eighteenth Century by Rosamund Bayne-Powell. As you can see it is in vintage condition, but is a mine of information about schools and children in early times. It is hardback and over 320 pages in length.
Shire books are a great resource for special subjects and this softback book of 30 pages bursts at its seams with all the detailed information about schools of this period. It includes many illustrations, an excellent bibliography and lists of other resources for further research. In other words - a gem of a book.
