Pat Perryman Honiton Lacemaker Awarded BEM

It was our delight to have Pat Perryman as a guest speaker during our pre Ackworth2008 sojourn at Symondsbury Manor and I'm sure many of the attendees at that event will have fond memories of her. I am even more delighted to learn that Pat has now been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the Heritage of Lace-Making. She has been a champion and practitioner of the art of lace-making in her home town of Honiton for 40 years and is chairman of Allhallows Museum which displays the town’s most famous product. One of her specially commissioned pieces - a jabot - dignified the throat of one of the House of Parliament's best-loved speakers, Betty Bothroyd.

  1. Congratulations to Pat Perryman Honiton on this honor wisely bestowed upon her. How truly wonderful that a country in this century would honor someone who has created such beautiful lace.

    Cheers!
