Emily Jo Gibbs @ West Dean College * Making Silk Purses with Bespoke Metal frames * 27-30 September 2013
You can see Emily Jo Gibbs' purses such as the one above at the V&A Museum in London. On this course you will make your own purse from start to finish, including basic metalwork for the frame and other construction methods for making rounded shapes or soft sided bags to decorate with silk paints, layering and embroidery.
Emily Jo (left in the picture above) trained at Wolverhampton University and has a BA honors 3D Design. For 17 years she has been a professional maker while teaching as a visiting lecturer at The University of Creative Arts since 2005. She regularly runs workshops at Craft Central and gives practical demonstrations and workshops in various Schools and Galleries including the V&A Museum.
The course runs at the wonderful West Dean College (near Chichester, UK) for the weekend 27 - 30 September 2013. The fee is £316 with 5% reduction for on-line bookings. Click here for more details and to book.
