Limerick City Museum Samplers On-Line

Limerick City Museum, Ireland now has an on-line collection and you can view their small collection of samplers from the comfort of your chair. The sampler above with its very beautiful paired birds and tulip and rose band is by Rebecca Abbott and is dated 1771.
And this later sampler was stitched by Mary Anne Drought, Glin, May 1852. Glin Castle was home to the famous Knights of Glin. This title has sadly with the death of Desmond John Villiers Fitzgerald the 29th Knight of Glin become extinct even though Desmond had 3 daughters by his second marriage. (His first marriage was to the glorious Loulou de la Falaise, muse of Yves St Laurent.) To visit the collection simply click here.
