Lovely Mary - Lucky Heather
Some people are just so lucky! Heather was the luckiest when she received this wonderful Mary Wigham for her birthday present from Lou. Lou always adds personal touches, such as small additional birds, and in this case Heather's initials and those of her husband and children - you can also see Lou's name in the rose cartouche at the top right of the sampler. Heather says that she is not a cross-stitcher herself (at least not yet), and is therefore fascinated by the beautiful and minute work Lou accomplishes. Heather was so excited to receive it that she took the photos before she had pressed out the creases which it collected on its way through the mail. It was stitched on Gander linen with Vicki Clayton Examplar Berry silk. So now there is a Mary residing in Clearwater, Florida - I wonder what she would have thought about her designs travelling so far? Heather and Lou are both expert boutis stitchers and you can see some of Heather's lovely work on her blog.
