November 5th 2011 * A Joyous Departure

We have just driven back from Cambridge after having one of the most memorable days of our life there yesterday. It was the wedding of Gareth and Rachel, who some of you might remember from Symondsbury. Here you can see them at a dinner earlier this year.
After a church wedding in Cambridge, 150 guests set out for an afternoon reception at fabulous Angelsey Abbey, having no idea of the joyous time ahead for them. Needless to say the food and wine were the best ever, having been designed and created by Gareth's company, Crucial Cuisine. After the food, when we were all mellow and the sun had gone down, we heard the sound of distant drums. No, it wasn't a disco - Rachel had arranged for the Arco Iris Community Samba Band to drum us, sambaing out across the lawns in evening dress, lit by glow sticks and fairy lights encircling the drums, across the expanse of lawns to the venue for the stunning fireworks display. Words cannot describe the feeling of us all, it was truly breath-taking, some cheered, some cried for the beauty and thrill of it all, but everyone danced and danced and danced. I think I am going to marry Richard again just to have another night like this. It was Le Grand Meaulnes for real! Here is just a little flavour..... Much Happiness to you Gareth and Rachel and many thanks for all the joy you gave to so many. Your wedding night will always be a night to remember.
