Knitted Brighton Pavilion

Brighton now has two Pavilions – the original, grand and ornate one we all know and love, and now a knitted one. While enjoying the fun shopping streets at the back of the Brighton Pavilion I walk past the Temptation Café in Gardner Street, which has an amazing window display for the Brighton Festival - including a scaled down, hand-knitted model of Brighton Pavilion, complete with domes, balconies and trellises. The display, called The Silent Seagulls also features a flock of Brighton’s favourite birds above the Pavilion – all hand-sewn by Peter Allinson, Temptation’s owner, and slightly mad knitter.  The café is full of Peter’s knitted tea cosies which always cause a stir (pun intended) when accompanying teapots to customers' tables. Temptation cafe  aims to source local Sussex foods and provide a stylish haven in the heart of Brighton’s vibrant North Laine area. Runner up in last year’s Brighton Foodie Award and winner of Sussex Young Chef 2009/10, the café has quickly picked up a wide following and enthusiastic customer base.

  1. This was such fun to see. I remember Caroline Feraday's voice, when hers was a voice on BBC London's overnight programs. I was a fan.

It's been a while since I've been to Brighton, but I do remember loving a particular visit years ago, on a Remembrance Sunday.

    Best wishes.
