Mountmellick School - Free Jigsaw Download

Mountmellick School in County Loais (pronounced Leesh) was one of the earliest schools set up by The Society of Friends in Ireland - opening its doors in 1786 just 7 years after Ackworth School opened. Founded by one of the socially conscious Pim family members, Jonathan, the school was known as The Leinster Provincial School until 1855. Some of you will recollect that Sarah Grubb wrote an account of Ackworth School, what you may not know is that she too is of the Pim family. The Mountmellick School has its own distinctive and beautiful style as you can see in this serenely beautiful sampler worked by Elizabeth Gatchell in 1805. You may notice that Elizabeth was unconcerned by the trailing threads between her words. While appearing a unique work, there are a number of copies of this tribute to the girls of Mountmellick School, all worked in identical format. I hope you enjoy your free jigsaw download this week. However, sadly, this is not going to work for Mac users.
