Bye Bye Bonhams Textile Auctions

It is with a teary eye that we bid farewell to the delight of looking forward to wonderful textile auctions at grand old Bonhams. There will be no more - and we shall miss Claire Browne's (formerly of the V&A) enlightening descriptions. It would appear that the sale of textiles cannot pay its way. Time for a comforting cuppa, I think.

    I believe you are a bit premature here! The last Textiles auction at Bonhams, in Knowle, will be held on 6th December 2011. This is shown on their Auction calendar, and I have just checked and confirmed this with Bonhams directly. So, time for a celebratory cuppa, for now!

    Bonhams at Knowle told me the auction was definitely on (I mentioned your post here), and even told me how to get items to them for Claire Brown to value for this auction. They also said there had been some confusion around this auction...!! Oh well, fingers crossed that the auction happens and that my lace bobbins don't go astray in the depths of Bonhams!
